HESPERIA – Silverwood, a new planned development in Hesperia, announced through an email newsletter July 3, that the community would be opening in 2024.

The developer says they are catering to first time homebuyers with homes priced from the $400,000s. Housing options will range from townhomes to single-family homes.

According to Silverwood, the community will be one of the largest developments in Southern California in many years. It is 9,000 acres in size and entitled for more than 15,000 homes.

“Abundance embodies the life at the Crest Club, the heart of the community at the center of it all. Think of this as an extension to your home where neighbors come together to connect,” says the Silverwood email newsletter about a community center in the works.

Silverwood will also feature 700,000 square feet of retail and commercial space that includes a library, post office, fire stations, public schools and walkable, well-planned town squares with stores. They are planning 4,900 acres of open space that will include parks, amphitheaters and 59 miles of off-street trails.

Economic Impact

Previously known as Tapestry, the Silverwood development is expected to bring $1.6 billion to improve the region’s infrastructure and services over the next 25 years.

“The project is creating local jobs and bringing development dollars by improving roads and creating new outdoor recreation and event spaces. Silverwood will create construction jobs for people and companies based in the Mojave River Valley,” says the Silverwood website

Silverwood says they need thousands of infrastructure improvement-related workers to build roads, bridges and commercial buildings, in addition to the homes. Their goal is to hire as many contractors and builders from the region as possible.

Traffic Concerns

Prior to its name change, the local community opposed the development with many residents complaining it would bring added traffic congestion.

The developers say they will be spending more than $160 million to help improve the local roads.

Major improvements include Ranchero Road to the north, adding new roads to the south, connecting the project to highway 138 and pulling traffic away from the Cajon Pass.

Silverwood also says Brightline West, a high-speed train under development, will connect the region to both Las Vegas and Southern California.
