VICTOR VALLEY — Founder and producer Dr. Tayari Kuanda is releasing documentary “InstaGrad2020”, this May, showcasing key moments of a year’s worth of virtual graduations.

“At the time when COVID first hit, schools were scrambling to find out just basic logistics and ideas of graduation and prom were not…necessarily the first priority and that’s understood,” said Kuanda. “It was a priority to me to always bring smiles to people’s faces…so I came up with the idea for “InstaGrad2020.”

Kuanda launched a website with “InstaGrad2020” merchandise — a fundraiser, as a portion of the proceeds goes towards a scholarship fund for 2020 graduates. On the 20th of every month, Kuanda hosts live online events recognizing 2020 graduates of all ages from around the world. Weekly giveaways of gift certificates, t-shirts and stickers were also provided to celebrate. In addition, graduates can submit photos to be placed on the “InstaGrad2020” website.

The “InstaGrad2020” documentary will be released on the year anniversary of the first live event, May 16th.

“When I started “InstaGrad” last May, it was about celebrating 2020 graduates because I knew they would not be having a graduation,” said Kuanda.

“The class of 2020 has not been forgotten and this documentary is an extension of the celebration and honoring of them.”

The “InstaGrad2020” documentary will air officially on May 16th on the Roku Uwatch channel. The pre-release will be available May 1, on the “InstaGrad2020” Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter pages.
